Hillsboro Online Academy offers core curriculum from Florida Virtual Schools Global and electives from eDynamic Learning.  

On-site staff, for core courses, are available at our K-8 location at Groner Elementary (23405 SW Schools Ferry Rd).   In addition to PE class, on-site clubs, social gatherings, and activities. our teachers offer new student check-ins, live online classes, and course-based work groups in-person and virtually.

Parents and students should be aware that the demands of online courses are equal to or exceed those of traditional “face to face” courses. We feature a rigorous, yet flexible, menu of online learning programs, designed to meet the varied needs of students and their families. While online instruction places more responsibility on students, it offers greater flexibility fitting course work into a student’s or their family’s busy schedule. Central to our mission is a learning plan individualized to each student.

Students can interact with teachers and other Hillsboro Online staff via a message system in Canvas, our Learning Management System, by phone or in person by coming in to our physical sites.  Although student assignment submission will be mainly online, they can also turn in hard copies by bringing them to their teacher.  Students will take module tests online; however some exams are required to be proctored in a face to face setting; teachers will share details with students and their family. Any exception to this policy must be approved by school administration.

Attendance is tracked using the Daily Attendance question. Students will have a 24-hour period to complete their attendance question.

The Oregon Statewide Assessment System (OSAS) includes tests administered annually by subject matter and grade. Oregon public schools administer state assessments to students in English/language arts and math in grades 3 through 8 and 11, and in science in grades 5, 8, and 11.
