Featured Events: OSC Art Show & HOA Careers in Criminal Justice and Public Service Night

Oak Street Campus (OSC) serves HSD students through age 21, with the goal of supporting their journey to complete and receive a high school diploma. Sixteen OSC students had their artwork displayed at the Hillsboro Civic Center Gallery from January 7 to February 14, 2025. Showcasing emerging creativity and unique perspectives, the wide range of styles, media, and imagery feature works with themes as varied as self-portraits, cityscapes, flora and fauna, and landscapes. Each artwork represents a step toward self-understanding and self-expression. 

Meanwhile, their campus-mates at Hillsboro Online Academy (grades 9-12 of the school) hosted a Careers in Criminal Justice and Public Service Night on Wednesday, January 29. This special event was arranged by Social Studies and Criminology CCP teacher Dee Moore, and featured a panel discussion with professionals from various career fields who shared their insights and experiences with students.

Panelists included: 

• Paul Maloney - Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon
• Robby Hammond - Hillsboro City Manager
• Tina Grubb - Portland City Firefighter
• Sergeant Eamon O’Reilly and K9 (Radar) - Washington County Sheriff’s Office
• Stephanie Case - Assistant Attorney General for the Oregon Department of Justice
• Judge Hafez Daraee - Washington County Circuit Court

Eventos destacados: Exposición de arte en OSC y evento de caminos profesionales de HOA sobre Justicia Penal y Servicio Público
El Plantel de Oak Street (OSC, por sus siglas en inglés) atiende a estudiantes de HSD hasta los 21 años, con el objetivo de apoyarlos en su camino para completar y recibir un diploma de escuela preparatoria. Dieciséis estudiantes de OSC exhibieron sus obras de arte en la Galería del Centro Cívico de Hillsboro del 7 de enero al 14 de febrero de 2025. Mostrando  creatividad emergente y perspectivas únicas, la amplia variedad de estilos, medios e imágenes presentan obras con temas tan variados como autorretratos, paisajes urbanos, flora y fauna, y paisajes naturales. Cada obra de arte representa un paso hacia la autocomprensión y la autoexpresión.

Mientras tanto, sus compañeros del plantel de la Academia en Línea de Hillsboro (grados 9-12 de la escuela) organizaron un evento de caminos profesionales sobre Justicia Penal y Servicio Público el miércoles, 29 de enero. Este evento especial fue organizado por la maestra de CCP de Estudios Sociales y Criminología, Dee Moore, y contó con un panel de diálogo con especialistas de diversos campos profesionales que compartieron sus ideas y experiencias con los estudiantes

Entre los panelistas estuvieron: 

• Pablo Maloney: fiscal federal auxiliar para el Distrito de Oregón
• Robby Hammond: administrador de la Ciudad de Hillsboro
• Tina Grub: bombera de la Ciudad de Portland
• Sargento Eamon O'Reilly y K9 (radar): Oficina del Alguacil del Condado de Washington
• Stephanie Case: fiscal general auxiliar del Departamento de Justicia de Oregón
• Juez Hafez Daraee: tribunal de circuito del Condado de Washington
